SYNOPSIS

As children, Ana and Leo are marked by their father’s suicide using a plastic bag. They are separated and forced to live in loneliness, as best as they can.

 

They meet again one day, but they don’t know who they are. They are both going trough a crisis and they can’t escape the feeling that life is as expendable as plastic.

 

about the Project

"Plastic" is a feature fiction film that was produced by the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica with the support of En Aguas Cine and Migala Films. It is currently in post production.

 

The project received a grant from the National Fund for the Arts (FONCA 2013) and was selected for the Filmmakers Academy of the Festival del Film Locarno 2013.

 

It will be premiered by the end of 2014.

 

 

About the Director

Ricardo Soto

He studied filmmaking at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica in Mexico City.

 

With his short "Last passengers" he competed at the age of 22 alongside Apichatpong Weerasethakul on Vladivostok and later won Best Short at the Short Shorts Film Fetival Mexico.  As a young director he has been selected for programs like the Filmmakers Academy (Locarno 2013), Berlinale Talents Guadalajara (2012) and now Berlinale Talents (2014).

 

Plastic is his first feature film.
